Herbal walks and wildcrafting
| People are intrigued and romanced by the thought of finding and picking your herbs from the wild. Days of hiking, searching, harvesting and processing brings us in touch with the natural world around us, our history and even our selves. This year might just be the year to take the herbal walks adventure based vacation at RoseWinds Estate. Green vacations come in many forms to help you bond with nature, increase your awareness of ethnobotanical uses of plants and reduce your stress ten fold. Not only can you learn of the many uses of plants, you'll experience how they fit into the area's culture and wildlife, learning how life is lived as a whole from it's history to modern day. Trips can vary from day tours and herbal walks to extended wilderness and cultural expeditions. You may even want to consider taking a field course from a local herbalist. |
At RoseWinds your curiosity, your zest for nature and the passion for eco-adventures will not be constrained. Click here for the area map of the best locations for: herb picking, hiking or mountain-biking. Or, all of those together.
It is straight forward:
- While staying at RoseWinds, we recommend you the best areas for exploring the Zlatibor eco-system (if need be, we will hook you up with a knowledgeable herbalist guide )
- You discover, identify and collect your own herbal samples. You may want to use them as the ingredients for making some of our suggested organic meals, to extract your own essential oils or simply enjoy them in your aromatherapy later that day.
Note: Some plants on Mt. Zlatibor are on the way to die out if not preserved with care and due diligence. The following are endemic sorts and can not be found anywhere else:
Halacsya sendtueri - "cvakija"
Verbascum bosnense - "divisma"
Haplophyllum boissieranum - "rutvaca"
They are under protection of the state, therefore citizens of Zlatibor are kindly asking all the visitors to Zlatibor to pick only as many plants as you really need.
The rest is in abundance on Mt. Zlatibor , however, we do promote and encourage the ecological etiquette. Let us know if you have any questions, please.
Enjoy and happy wildcrafting!
